Meet the Geek

Book-Geek-KarleneHi! My name is Karlene.

And I love books!

I learned to read when I was four and I’ve been a card-carrying book geek ever since—and proud of it!

Most years I read over 100 books. One of my favorite things to do is chat with other readers about books—what’s new, what’s good, what’s not worth the time.

I love everything about books—the way they look, the way they smell, and of course, the way they can suck you into an imaginary world that becomes so real you can get lost there for hours and hours.

On this site, you’re going to get my honest opinion about the the books I read. For more information on what my star ratings mean, click here.

NLDSFbutton_125New LDS Fiction

This is a spotlight site where I post information about new fiction releases by LDS (Mormon) authors. No reviews, just me giving a shout out to authors of my faith. Some of the books contain LDS content, but many do not. They cover the genre gamut and include some nationally known authors. We do monthly book giveaways, reading challenges, and other fun stuff. Go check it out.

BookMomButton_125bBook Mom Reviews (Coming Winter 2015/2016!)

A site targeted to parents and other adults who are choosing books for tweens & teens (ages 11-18). Ratings cover multiple content areas, allowing the adult to make an informed decision on what is age-appropriate for their child. Posts include Middle Grade and Young Adult new releases, current movie tie-ins, and some golden oldies.

LDSPbutton_125cLDSPublisher.com

An anonymous blog I wrote from 2000–2006 to help new authors navigate their way through the LDS publishing industry. This site is in (probably) permanent hiatus now, but all the posts are still up. It covers writing tips, submissions, the whys and wherefores of traditional publishing, and some awesome guest posts from popular LDS authors.

LPSquare_125LibrisPro.com

My day job. Where I do all types of book and author services: typesetting, cover design, ebooks, editing, print promotionals (business cards, postcards, etc), social media promotionals (banners, buttons, etc), and web design. (But don’t judge me by the LibrisPro website. I was in the middle of updating it and got distracted by a good book…)

See? I told you I loved books!
